Key Benefits for Your Skin
Regular Gua Sha practice is more than just a beauty trend; it is a massage technique that supports skin health from within.
- Promotes Lymphatic Drainage: Gentle scraping motions help move stagnant fluid, which can reduce morning puffiness and define facial contours.
- Releases Muscle Tension: The firm density of the jade helps work out knots in the jaw (masseter muscles), brow, and neck, softening the appearance of expression lines.
- Boosts Circulation: The friction stimulates blood flow to the surface of the skin, bringing oxygen and nutrients that contribute to a natural glow.
- Enhances Product Absorption: Using these tools over serums or oils helps press active ingredients deeper into the skin layers.
Understanding the Shapes
- The Heart Shape: The "V" notch is specifically engineered to hug the jawline and cheekbones. It is ideal for sculpting and lifting motions.
- The Long/S-Shape: These elongated tools are excellent for larger surface areas like the neck and forehead, or for body scraping (shoulders and arms) to release deeper tension.
-
The Curved Edge: The smooth, convex sides found on all plates are used for sweeping over flat areas like the cheeks and under-eye area (using very light pressure).

User Guide: Tips for an Effective Ritual
-
Preparation is Key:
Never use a Gua Sha tool on dry skin. Always apply a generous layer of facial oil, serum, or moisturizer. The tool needs 'slip' to glide smoothly; dragging the stone on dry skin can cause irritation. -
The Angle Matters:
Hold the tool flat against your face, at roughly a 15 to 45-degree angle. Avoid holding it perpendicular (90 degrees) to your skin, as the goal is to sweep the lymph fluids, not dig into the tissue. -
Direction of Flow:
- Neck: Start here to open the lymphatic channels. Sweep downwards from the ear to the collarbone to drain, or upwards to lift.
- Jaw: Use the notched edge. Start at the center of the chin and glide along the jawline toward the earlobe. Give a little wiggle at the end to release tension.
- Cheeks: Sweep from the nose outwards toward the hairline.
- Eyes: Use extreme caution and very light pressure. Sweep from the inner corner of the eye outwards to the temple.
- Forehead: Sweep from the eyebrows up to the hairline.
-
Pressure and Consistency:
Use light-to-medium pressure for the face and neck. The skin should flush slightly pink (indicating blood flow), but it should not be painful. Consistency yields the best results—aim for 3 to 5 minutes, 2-3 times a week.
Care Instructions
- Wash your tool with warm water and a gentle soap after every use to prevent bacteria buildup.
-
Handle with care: Phoenix Jade is a natural stone and can be fragile. Dropping it on a hard surface (like a bathroom tile) may cause it to break.
